Everybody loves to be popular and have lots of friends.  I can remember from my childhood following my friends around all the time and even got in trouble at times just so I would be cool like them.  When we got caught, my mother would always ask me why I did what I did.  I would say; "Johnny did it!"  Mom would answer back; "If Johnny jumped off a bridge, would you jump too?!"  I would think for a minute and say; "Yeah, sure."

Kids, teens and even adults alike can do self-destructive things just to please a friend and to be accepted.  It's one thing for a kid to be so foolish, but teens and adults need to think things through before they act like idiots just to be cool.  Even Christians can act up just to look good in the eyes of their friends.  

It's way past time to grow up and say to yourself; "So what if My friends do!"  Take a look at the list below and ask yourself if any of these habits that your friends have are strongly influencing your life, so much so that you follow right along with them.

If a friend steals small things from work?

If a friend is an active member of a cult?

If a friend smokes cigarettes?

If a friend lies  when they got caught doing something wrong?

If a friend curses regularly, often using the names of GOD in vain?

If a friend gossips about other people all the time?

If a friend frequently takes their 'significant other' to swinging parties?

If a friend watches Adult Movies?

If a friend buys and uses party drugs?

If a friend is a practicing bisexual, homosexual or lesbian?

If a friend likes stealing cars for joy rides?

If a friend smokes marijuana?  

If a friend drinks lots of beer or hard alcohol?  

If a friend is involved in Internet Porn?

If a friend goes to wild parties and 'hooks up' with different people each time?

If a friend ups and quits their job just because they are upset at their supervisor?

There is no end to this list of 'what could be', what a friend might do that is wrong or foolish.  If while you were reading the list you asked yourself; "What's so bad about that?", you have lost your perspective.  The manner in which Christians live and behave is not made up by their own views and standards.  Christian's live by GOD'S standards, do all they can to obey HIS ways because HE loves them and they willingly love HIM in return. When and if a person becomes confused, GOD'S Word, the HOLY SPIRIT and prayer guide them back to the truth.  In such a situation it is a good idea to speak to your Pastor or Biblical Counselor.
