Living your life day by day in the 'JOY' of the LORD!

Let's Continue With

1 John 5:3

"This is
love for GOD:  to obey HIS Commands, and HIS Commands are not burdensome."

People often say;  "I love GOD with all my heart."  Loving GOD involves much more than mere words, it is in your actions that you demonstrate your true love for GOD

Some people try to serve GOD out of fear of punishment -

Matthew 25:24

"Then the man who had received the one talent came.  "Master; he said, 'I knew that you were a hard man, harvesting where you  have not sown and gathering where you have not scattered seed."

This man hid the talent the LORD had given him because he was afraid of HIM and so he lost all he had and never made it to Heaven!  A personal relationship with GOD cannot exist on the basis of fear.

Some people try to serve GOD by legalistic Law keeping

James 2:10

"For whoever keeps the whole law and yet stumbles at just one point is guilty of breaking all of it."

Simply stated, the one who believes they have a personal relationship with GOD by keeping every Law, all the time, also will miss Heaven!  By the way, by the time JESUS walked the earth, the 10 Commands of Moses had been interpreted into more than 600 Laws!  So, if a person says; "I only have to keep 10 Laws perfectly, what about the remaining 590+?"

Then there are some people who serve GOD out of no other reason than love for
HIM -

Luke 10:27

"
HE answered; "Love the LORD your GOD with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind'; and 'Love your neighbor as yourself."

Which of these three examples best describe you?

  1. Serve GOD out of fear.  [No Heaven]

  2. Serve GOD by Law-Keeping.  [No Heaven]

  3. Serve GOD out of love for HIM.  [Heaven]

Loving GOD and obeying HIS Commands, is a matter of the heart, as love originates from man's inner-being.  If you really do love GOD, then you will desire to obey HIS Commands and gratefully do your best to honor HIS Word in your life, all from a heart of love for HIMLove comes from GOD.

Romans 5:5

"...because
GOD has poured out HIS love into our hearts by the HOLY SPIRIT, who HE has given us."

Perfection, living your life with no sin whatsoever, is not possible, it is the intent that reveals your love of GOD. Knowing your imperfections, you do your best to obey HIS Commands out of your love for HIM, for HIS Commands are not burdensome to you.  It is in those very Commands that you find freedom to live joyful, productive lives.

GOD'S Commands are not punishment, they are HIS blessing to you.  GOD Is Love, and in HIS Commands you discover HIS gifts to you.  Originating from a fallen nature, obeying HIS Commands sets you free!  Love GOD and live in HIS freedom!
